Do you have a weakness for the leftover Halloween (Christmas, Easter, – fill in any holiday that applies) candy? Can you just hear the peanut butter cups calling your name when you walk by. Do you not really truly enjoy it, but eat it anyway because it’s there or you don’t want to waste it? If so, then this cheat sheet is for you. Let me show you some tips and tricks for how to deal with Halloween candy.

Cheat Sheet Dealing with Halloween Candy

Try This: Instead of stocking up on candy in advance of the holiday, purchase it as close to the date as possible. You’ll reduce your temptation time and likely get it on sale.

How to use these tips

  • You may not be able to use all of the tips – pick the ones that will be most effective for you.
  • For tip #2, My favorite is Tiny Tony’s Chocoloney. Around holidays, I can usually find them in a larger bag.
  • For #7, I like to have Raaka Mini Bars or HU Hunks on hand. Both feel like a treat, but also have good things in them. No sacrifice here!
  • A couple of times on the cheat sheet you’ll see me recommending tossing leftover or extra candy. I know this seems wasteful, but my thought is that eating the candy just so I don’t waste is actually wasting my health which is worth way more than a piece of candy. If you really can’t toss, many teachers will ask for candy donations.

Don’t be afraid to simply toss it.

Help for Snacking

If you snack frequently, it may be easier to be tempted by that candy. As a reformed frequent snacker, I get it! I personally used the tricks on my “How to Start a New Healthy Habit” to get my snacking habit under control. I bet they can help you too.
