Sessions Stand and Brasserie is a Marietta Gem
Walk up to Sessions Stand & Brasserie on any given day, and you’ll find children playing in the green space while their moms catch up over a cup of coffee, people sipping lattes and nibbling pastries while “working from home” (out in their community rather than in solitude from their actual homes), friends sharing precious time together while enjoying delicious hand-made toasts, and deals being made over amazing scratch-made sandwiches.
Community is Part of Their Brand
Sessions Stand has made community part of their brand, and it shows. From the Blue Zones, we’ve learned that community is so important for health and longevity, and having places to regularly meet up with our community makes it so much more intuitive. Sessions Stand is one of those places in Marietta. From the minute you walk up, you’ll hear “hellos” and “good mornings” from the take-away counter, and if you venture further into the large dining area, it feels as if you’ve walked into a comfortable, but very stylish living room with perfect lighting and a warm feeling. There’s also a cute outdoor seating area that’s perfect for those beautiful Georgia days.
Magical Food and Drink Offerings
Beyond the amazing community atmosphere, the food and drinks are absolutely incredible. I have said for years that co-owner and baker Katie Pfister sprinkles a little magic in everything she makes. Her food just tastes like it has a little something extra special baked in. If you want a little treat, you can’t go wrong with her pastries or desserts. For the record, I believe occasional treats made with good-quality ingredients can be part of a healthy lifestyle.
Why Sessions Makes My Short List
Why does Sessions make my short list of restaurants? The bread is scratch-made with healthy offerings like sourdough and whole grain. One of my favorite things about Sessions Stand is that nearly every savory offering is paired with a simple arugula salad. Simple is by no means boring at Sessions Stand – arugula lightly tossed in dressing tastes incredible (there’s that magic again!). Starting a meal with a salad or any veggie appetizer is a great way to control blood sugar spikes, and Sessions Stand makes it easy with this little accompaniment to many of their dishes. Fresh fruits and vegetables are a staple among their offerings, from toast and salad toppings to frittatas and soups. Make sure to try their rotating toast flavor, which changes with what’s in season. Both coffee and tea have health benefits when consumed without a lot of fillers or sugar, and Sessions has lots to offer!
Favorite Menu Items
We usually include a weekday morning workout followed by breakfast at Sessions as part of our movement plan for the week. Our favorite breakfasts are the super-flavorful spicy Turkish eggs, avocado toast with egg, and the breakfast tacos with beans. For lunch, I love that they offer a half-and-half combo. A half sandwich and salad or soup is the perfect lunch. The weekly sandwich often features roasted chicken or turkey, prepared from scratch. These sandwiches are never boring! They are filled with flavor from homemade spreads and toppings, crunchy veggies or lettuce, and that homemade bread! We also love the mushroom or avocado toast with an egg for lunch.
