Ingredients

  • ¼ Cup black sesame seeds
  • ¼ Cup white sesame seeds
  • ¼ Cup flax seeds
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 large egg whites

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375℉. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • Add all ingredients to a medium mixing bowl and stir to coat and blend evenly.
  • Pour mixture onto lined baking tray, and spread with metal spatula into as thin a layer as possible without having large gaps (small gaps are fine). Make sure any blobs of egg white are dispersed.
  • Bake for 7-11 minutes until you start to see browning of seeds.
  • Let cool completely, and then break into pieces.

Notes

  • If making more than 1 batch, do a separate tray for each to ensure the mixture crisps properly.
  • I like to score the sheet with a sharp knife into long strips, to help with breaking.
  • Save any crumbs left from breaking to top salads with!
  • These pair well with pureed soups, such as Pea Soup or Butternut Curry Soup.
  • Try adding herbs to the mix for variety. Rosemary, thyme, oregano, and chives all work well.
  • These make a simple appetizer or snack, either alone or paired with cheese and fruit, or as part of a larger grazing board.
